Hi.

The other day a middle-aged recreational jogger was putzing around on FB, told a story to amuse herself, and "they" said she should blog, so she did. This is what you find here.

Odds & Ends #2

Odds & Ends #2

Well, it’s Thanksgiving week, and I’m off work, which means not much is going on at Chez Shasta. The only thing I can think to do is go out and spend money I don’t have, so I don’t. Except if you don’t count the trip to WalMart to buy tampons and ice cream, which cost $76. I’m still not sure what happened there. I certainly did not spend $76 on tampons. That would be embarrassing, even with the self checkout.

My new foster dog, Piper, is a gem. She might be my new dog. Winston needs a sister, but she needs to master the dog door, and so far, she’s not having it, treats or not.

I bought a Thanksgiving Centerpiece for the Ages. Really looking forward to our bountiful table on Thursday. Nevertheless, I still decorated for Christmas this week, so the house smells like Fresh Balsam and excitement.

My family is coming down! They were under the weather with some kind of pestilence, but like champs (and Kalins are champs), they have rallied and will be down in Texas tomorrow. My older brother Ted is staying with me, and I’m looking forward to having some company in the house.

I decorated for Christmas already. Winston and Piper are both scrubbing their backs under the tree like a couple of cats, but thank goodness, they don’t climb, because I’m sure they would if they could.

I got both my house’s toilets fixed yesterday. “You have more toilet trouble than anyone I know,” says Heather. I can’t help it. I use them for what they’re for, and it’s not like I’m putting a squirrel down them, but every now and then, they stop flushing right, so yesterday I had Jack the neighborhood plumber come by, and damned if he didn’t put in some souped-up new flusher-thingys in them. Now I’m pretty sure they COULD suck down a squirrel.

Speaking of rodents, I’ve seen two rats outside my house in the last week, and so help me, the first rat I see in the garage, I’m burning the place down. Hypothetically. Rat catchers will be called. I think that’s what they used to call them in Victorian times in England. I’m hoping that industry is still around.

My friend Becky came to visit me this week. I think I told you guys about her in my last post. We had a lovely time. She was very patient with the toilet situation.

So that’s what’s going on this week.
